Just past the entrance, you'll find yourself in our 9,000-volume fiction and literature section, with authors from Ed Abbey to Emile Zola, including novels and single-author short story collections. Around past the last shelf row are Multi-author anthologies, organised alphabetically by editor. Signed, first, and rare books are in the glass case facing the H-M aisle. Some collectors' editions, such as Modern Library,Heritage Press Editions, and The Library of America are in the collectors' nook across from the main fiction section. Looking for a gift? These publishers made handsome editions with quality paper and binding and, in some cases, with unusual illustrations. (For example, the Heritage Press edition of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn was illustrated by Norman Rockwell.) |

Claire is the name given to one of our "ghosts" in certain stories about unusual things that have happened here. It is certainly true that our fiction collection holds the "spirit" of the Haunted Bookshop, in that we love to introduce readers and stories to each other and speak of many of the books in this section the way other people might speak of their old friends. In this room, you'll find paperback classics as well as beautiful, old hardcovers, a sampling of our favourite recent novels (some of which were signed by the author), and some things you might not find very often, like fiction published by the Toothpaste Press or lesser-known works by Mikhail Bulgakov. Not sure what to pick? Let us know what you like, and we'll show you some other things you might enjoy. |
