Services We Offer Whether you are missing a book you had as a child, looking for a text to complement your studies, or trying to find the next book on your reading list, we are happy to offer you our Book Search Service. With access to the combined resources of The World Book Market and other booksellers around the world, we can find you a copy of the book you want, in the edition and condition you prefer, from a trustworthy source, for the best price available. Let us take the hassle out of your search for you - contact Nialle (email or telephone - 319.337.2996) for more information. (Please note that in-store credit and Haunted Bookshop Gift Certificates cannot be applied to special orders.) Looking for something to read or a gift to give, but not sure what to choose? We work hard to provide the best Recommendations possible. Gift wrapping is available seasonally, too. If you found the books you want but can't fit them into your luggage, let us offer you our Shipping Service. We can ship your purchase at cost to the destination you specify, using the same care and celerity we apply to our internet order business. |
We sell bookends, plastic dust-jacket protectors, and other useful tools for maintaining and displaying your book collection.
We're thrilled to offer a new line of greeting cards by local artists J & M Studios. These beautiful, handpainted cards on fine paper feature images of elegant flowers, aged books, and even our beloved cats:

We also carry cards by photographer Laura Dowd, whose beautiful blank-inside cards feature pictures taken in Iowa, many at CSA farms. A portion of the proceeds from sale of these cards goes to benefit Local Foods Connection. |
We're good friends with the other independent bookstores in Iowa City, and we're pleased to offer bookmarks showing other stores' addresses and contact information. |

Iowa City's Local Foods Connection assists families in need by helping them to obtain healthy, fresh, locally produced foods. Your purchase of books from our Benefit Sale shelves - $1.00 for hardcovers, 50 cents for paperbacks - goes to assist this group in its efforts.
We believe that locally-owned businesses are best able to provide goods and services to match their communities' needs, so we are proud to be part of Iowa City's Shop Locally campaign.
| Recycling actively is one of the ways that we work to help our environment. We can help you to find the best way to dispose responsibly of your used bookshelves, magazines, papers, or damaged books. Ask us for details. | |
| In the foyer and in the hall are local postings about events, groups, pets, jobs, housing, and more. Also, stop here to pick up your copy of the free monthly magazines Little Village and Iowa Source, both excellent publications about Iowa arts and events. |
We welcome book groups, study groups, tutors and students, and community organisations to use our dining room for meetings. Our spacious, shady porch is also available for spontaneous picnics or planned gatherings in good weather. Contact us for more information. Just want a quiet place to read? We have plenty of tucked-away, comfortable chairs (though you might have to share yours with a cat). Young folks sometimes practice on our piano, and we are always delighted when musicians come to play. |
