![]() A view from the audience seating area. We have room for about 20 comfortably seated guests plus standing room for ten more. |
While we shelve poetry, plays, theatre and stagecraft, and film books on our stage, this is also where we host readings and the occasional piano recital. Check Little Village for news of events here as well as at this website, or drop by and put on an impromptu concert. Does the stage look small? Don't be fooled. The bookcases on the left in the photograph actually roll aside to double the stage front and expose the piano, and there are wings large enough for a quick costume change. This is also a popular place to study, since there are comfy chairs up there too. |
| Poetry is on stage right and includes biographies of poets as well as classic and recent works. Plays are on stage left, with a separate section for Shakespeare and related biographies and criticism. Theatre Craft and Theatre Criticism are at the end of the wall with Dance. Film and Television therefore occupy the Fourth Wall in the left wings. |
We welcome guests to enjoy the use of our piano, but we do have three absolutely set-in-stone rules: 1. Do not put cups on the wood. 2. Be respectful of other guests in the store - loud and dissonant playing, banging on the keys, etc. are not acceptable. 3. Under no circumstances may you play "Chopsticks," "Heart and Soul," or "Fur Elise." If the guitar is out, no "Stairway to Heaven" or "Freebird." Thank you. |
